Geoffrey Benhamou (b. 1993) works with many random images and objects. From a picture directly cut from a fairytale book to a one-dollar bill or a pin, they are what both inspire and compose the paintings themselves. It can also be sketches influenced by old memories, trips to the countryside or simply the stripes of his favourite shirt. These images are naturally chosen as they are what surround him on a daily basis and therefore, deliberately and unconsciously shape his paintings. Geoffrey Benhamou creates an intimate and abstract relationship with his paintings, by feeding on the complementarity of the recognizable object and the shapes and colors that compose these paintings. What drives him is to find new images and objects in order to find new ways to compose with colors and shapes.
